I know there are plenty of services that offer free web hosting, 100megs free, geocities, whatever. However, they all add .100megsfree.com or whatever to your url.

Is there any way I can get (purchase?) an arbitrary url that isn%26#039;t taken, for example http://www.abc123kjnbaf.com/ or http://www.caldarinavy.com/ .

Once I do this, do I have to keep my computer on constantly for the webpage to load? How does that work?

After that you need a computer to be on constantly to load the site, yes, which therefore makes it a server.
