Website creation advice?

I want to create a website to help explain a medical condition that I have to help out others who may have it or to explain it to teachers/employers/etc. I currently cannot find any specific website on it and am fed up with having to trawl around websites trying to find others like me.

What I want to know is the average cost (per month/year) of web hosting and what you personally have found offer the best services, maybe even a forum service as well?

I also would like it to have it%26#039;s own domain name, so any domain name websites would be handy with costs for those as well. Thanks!

For domain name i would go with a .com, that way if your site gets popular+a lot of traffic and you decide to sell it one day then you can get a good return on it.

As for hosting, you can find good hosting for as little as $4 a month. Domains go for a bout $10 per year for a .com

I would check out godaddy.com

They have good customer support.

A forum is always something good to have on a website for people to asks questions and have discussions.

There are a lot of free message board software out there and payed ones.

Two free ones that i know of are SMF and Phpbb

Two payed ones are InvisionPowerBoard and vbulletin

I suggest you check mywebbiehosting.com. Their cheapest hosting plan is only $3.95 a month, but it already includes one year free domain name registration. This plan also include 1.5 G disk space, 150 G bandwidth, 50 email accounts, 1 free MySQL database, multilingual control panel, etc. they also guarantee 99% uptime and 30-day money back.

Their support is also commendable. They reply to my tickets/emails in less than an hour.

If you are going to use free php scripts for forums like phpbb2 and smf, you can activate these by just installing it in your mywebbiehosting account control panel. no need to install it on your own.
