I will like to start my own web hosting and designing company...Do I need a dedicated server to start?
Dedicated Server?
Dedicated servers are expensive and if you are starting you may not need it. You may instead go for hosting which provide lots of space with no limit on domains.
Visit Following webhosting which is quite good.
Hostmonster http://snipurl.com/1512d
They offer hosting of %26quot;unlimited domains%26quot; and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they offer %26quot;a free Domain Name%26quot; and installing service called %26quot;Fantastico%26quot;. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer %26quot;Free Website Builder%26quot; as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Dedicated Server?
Yeah - for sure... you need a power generator too.... what happens during a lightning storm and your sites need updates?
You need designers too.... web designers and graphic designers (there is a BIG difference.) It%26#039;s too much for one person to be the hosting manager, the designer, the promotionals/sales person, the copywriter, and the graphics and imaging person.....
Basicly, to be successful, start getting other people involved.
Other Replys:You can either create your own or hire a company to host your site. Either way, you have to have it on a computer and using your personal computer as a web host is not the most desireable, although it is possible.
Other Replys:For the most part I agree with rabble rouser. But there are companies that will allow you to co-host with them, for much lesser cost. I would look at that first before you try to spend the money.
Other Replys:You can go with other companies to do your web hosting. Depending on the nature of the sites you are building you may or may not need a dedicated server. Web hosting companies do offer this.
In conjunction with what rabble said. Owning your own dedicated server is more work for one person - which means you need someone to maintain your servers, perform backups, etc. A web host will do this for you.
Keep in mind murphy%26#039;s laws are strong in this area. If a server can go down - it will, and at the most inappropriate time. Try explaining to your date on Valentines that dinner is off, and you have to go to work... Yikes.
