Professional web design question???

I have been designing websites now kinna as a hobby for a while but I%26#039;d to start making some extra cash by designing websites. How would that work like would I host all the websites from my godaddy account or would i have each client set up there own account? I don%26#039;t have a problem with the designing part but the hosting part I am a little confused about.

For each client you have to buy domain and web hosting and then design. You can find step by step guide on how to create website at websites like http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm

You can %26quot;host%26quot; websites from your own account, BUT you can NOT charge a fee for hosting, nor openly claim to be a host. You need to call it %26quot;a fee for services rendered%26quot; (on most hosting accounts) if you need or want to charge a fee at all, when the hosting is done on a sub-directory or sub-domain under your account containing it%26#039;s own domain..

There are legalities AND policies that the real host must adhere to, and of course, they wouldn%26#039;t want their reputation adversely affected by you claiming to be %26quot;the%26quot; host and turn around and cuss out a client :)

It is better to host clients on THEIR own account, which you can act as custodian for or of, especially if they need access to all or most of their files and need to do the maintenance.

You should contact your host (GoDaddy?) for exacting details on the latitude offered with regard to sub-hosting on your account.

Other Replys:You can look into being a hosting reseller. Check out the sites of popular hosting companies like http://www.totalchoicehosting.com, http://www.1and1.com, and yes even GoDaddy. You can be a reseller of their server space and you%26#039;ll be able to host your clients%26#039; sites on this space. If you get a dedicated server, it%26#039;ll cost you more. Otherwise you%26#039;ll be reselling from a shared server. Don%26#039;t set them up on your own GoDaddy acct. You also need to keep in mind that even though it%26#039;s extra money in your pocket, if there are server issues or if it goes down, you%26#039;ll have to deal with it and your clients%26#039; phone calls. Are comfortable being the middleman for this? Just something to think about. If the server goes down on a weekend, you may get calls and you%26#039;ll have to contact the hosting company and straighten it out.
